A successful cooperation program with UNHCR

Last year, under the supervision of Dr. Yassien Taha Mustafa, the Vice president for Higher Education Studies and Scientific Affairs, a delegate from the University of Zakho headed by Dr. Ahmad H. Ibrahim, the Director of the International Office and Chiya I. Dino from postgraduate department, participated in a meeting of higher education program for Syrian refugees by the aid of the UNHCR under DAFI, DAAD, and the British Consul education program. This program will allow undergraduate, postgraduate students to join their studies in Iraq Kurdistan region and other countries like Turkey and Lebanon.

It is worth mentioning that the European Union has allocated 264,684$ for this program and 116 Syrian students are going to be accepted in Kurdistan universities to study in a parallel program. Likewise, this program includes Dohuk University, Salahaddin University, Polytechnic Dohuk University, Sulaimanyah University, Koya University and the University of Zakho in Iraq, Kurdistan region. Accordingly, the University of Zakho will accept three Syrian refugees students with total amount 9,000$ as tuition fees to study in the university campus.
